Motorcycle development history

In this article Automobiles Parts, we’ll learn how the modern motorcycle operates, how motorcycle design has evolved over the years and how motorcycles might change in the near future.

Why the sudden spike in popularity? Unlike cars, motorcycles allow riders to connect intimately with the driving experience.

Since 1998 Motorcycle Parts, the number of motorcycles in the United States has increased by 34 percent [ref].

But it’s not just about adventure and freedom. With gas prices soaring, motorcycles, which can achieve fuel economies as high as 85 miles per gallon, provide an attractive alternative to gas-guzzling cars.

Motorcycles are an increasingly popular form of transportation

Next Motorcycle Accessory, we’ll take a close look at a motorcycle engine.

Motorcycles are motorized vehicles for transporting one or two riders. Generally, a motorcycle has only two wheels, but any vehicle with fewer than four wheels in contact with the ground can be classified as a motorcycle.

The overall structure and function of a motorcycle is quite simple. It includes a gasoline engine, which converts the reciprocating motion of pistons into rotary motion, just like the engine in a car.

Three-wheel variations of the motorcycle include the "hack" (motorcycle plus sidecar) and the "trike" (short for motortricycle).

Two hand levers enable the rider to operate the clutch and the front brake, while two foot pedals enable him to change gears and control the rear brake.

The layout of the modern motorcycle was established by 1914 and has remained fundamentally unchanged ever since.

Steering is accomplished by turning the front wheel via the handlebars and by leaning the bike to one side or the other.

A transmission system transmits this motion to the back wheel. As the back wheel turns, it propels the motorcycle forward.

The Carbeque is the perfect picnic set-up for the summer

The car is called the ’Carbeque’, and as it name obviously suggests, it serves the purpose of a car and a cook-out place all rolled into one. Just by looking at it, you already get the idea that this 1957 Ford Customline-turned-diner is something that you’d want to have in your home. It’s got a diner-inspired set-up with a black-and-white checkerboard tile configuration. The interior Automobiles Parts, which is dressed in a red and white set-up Motorcycle Parts, comes with a C-shaped couch with a table in the middle, an umbrella, and where the engine used to be now comes a grille.

Now that summer’s here, it seems like the perfect time for all of us to bring out the grills, plop down the lawn chairs, and open up the umbrellas for a few months worth of barbecue and sausages.

Seeing as we are a predominantly auto website, this fancy and novel set of four wheels caught our attention, not just because of its ingenuity, but more importantly, because that it includes all the aforementioned parts of our summer grill-out inside the confines of a vehicle.

With the sun about to shine its brightest in the coming months, the question of where you’re going to do your summer barbecue will be answered by this one-of-a-kind diner on four wheels.

Lamborghini Gallardo ‘Galaxy Warrior’

While it does sound like a package that’s got everything you need in an aero kit, the visual result of the whole car leaves a lot to be desired.

But as a styling package for the Lamborghini Gallardo? Nope. Not good at all.

True to its name, this "Galaxy Warrior" Gallardo that’s being sold on Ebay Germany does look the part of an intergalactic machine from the world of Warrior. But here on this planet, where the Gallardo is considered one of the most beautifully-designed cars in the world, there’s no room for robotic-looking Italian supercars, even if its an attention-grabber in every lost sense of the word.

You can spin its name however you want, but the name "Galaxy Warrior" doesn’t necessarily sound like something you’d want to put in your car. Sure, it could pass as the name of the Ultimate Warrior’s long-lost cousin.

In any case, the people responsible for this ungodly sight is a company called ATS Automotive, which gave the Gallardo an aerodynamic kit that includes a new front bumper Motorcycle Parts, new side skirts, a number of new air vents, a new rear bumper, an aftermarket rear wing Automobiles Accessory, and new twin-pipe exhaust system, and a new set of alloy wheels.

Lamborghini Gallardo

About the only thing redeemable about this car is that it still comes with the Gallardo’s 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces an output of 560 horsepower. Other than that, and that alone, we’d leave this one alone.

2000 Chrysler PT Cruiser with Viper RT-10 engine

The result is a vehicle that epitomizes substance over style. On the outside, the first thing you’ll notice is the fact that this PT Cruiser was turned into a pick-up, which is weird enough on its own considering the retro hatch’s unmistakable profile. So without the rear doors and a hatch that has since been replaced with a pick-up bed, the PT Cruiser’s new profile lends itself a curious look.

Where a 2.4-liter four-cylinder Motorcycle Accessory, naturally aspirated engine that produces 150 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque once resided is now an old 8.0-liter V10 engine that produces 500 horsepower to go with the Viper’s six-speed transmission, rear suspension Automobiles Accessory, and steering rack.

The Chrysler PT Cruiser is – or should we say, was – a car that you would never mistake for being a powerhouse. Retro-looking, sure. Snorting horsepower? Hardly.

Now is it enough to warrant a bid on eBay for more than the $13,100 price tag currently on display? We say absolutely only because something this weird with that much horsepower is bound to make anyone stand out in a crowd.

The car is said to have been built some years back, but given it’s uniqueness and downright peculiarity – not to mention the insane power under its hood – it’s still something that will catch your attention.

That is until you pop open the hood.

The only way you could give the PT Cruiser some street rep is to take out its four-cylinder mechanical guts and place something akin to a Dodge Viper’s powerhouse V10 in it, which, fortunately, is exactly what someone did to their beloved, little hatch.

2011 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider by Novitec

2011 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider by Novitec

A lot of us have tuning companies that we like to call our favorites, or at least one of our favorites. Some of you might share different opinions, but in our case, one that stands on top is Novitec Rosso.

Using an Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, Novitec Rosso gave the fastest and most powerful Alfa Romeo even more reason to be feared, thanks to a new supercharger system and a stainless-steel exhaust system that takes the output of the Italian supercar from its stock 450 horsepower all the way up to 600 horsepower.

The German tuning company has not been shy in building fabulous works in the past Automobiles Parts, and to their credit, they never rest on their laurels. Their latest piece of work is proof of that fact.

On top of the supercharger and the exhaust system, Novitec Rosso also gave the 8C Spider a new water-to-air intercooler, a custom injector, and a set of 21” and 22” alloy wheels. All told Motorcycle Parts, the whole package for the 8C Spider comes out at 19,900 Euros, which is about $29,400 based on current exchange rates.

The power upgrade translates to new performance numbers for the 8C Spider, particularly a new 0-62 mph time of just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph.

Not bad for an upgrade of an Alfa Romeo 8C Spider.

2012 Audi TT-RS American model

UPDATE 07/08/2011: Audi has announced prices for the 2012 TT-RS Motorcycle Parts, a model that signifies the return of the RS nameplate to the U.S. The Audi TT RS will be priced at $56,850 (excluding destination charges, taxes, title, options and dealer charges). By comparison, the Audi TT-S version is priced from $50K.

The Audi TT-RS will be powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that will deliver an extra 20 HP compared to the European model.

Audi is obviously playing the supply and demand game since 11,500 fans expressed their enthusiasm over the TT-RS in only one month. No official details were given on the car, but Audi did confirm that it would be $10 Automobiles Accessory,000 more expensive than the current TTS, priced at $51,000. Sales for the Audi TT-RS will begin at the end of Summer 2011.

With a total of 360 HP, the engine will only be offered with a conventional six-speed manual transmission and will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. We expect to see a greater top speed compared to the European model.

Audi finally came to their senses back in September 2010 when they decided that it was time for the TT-RS to make its way back to the States, but their most recent announcement may leave some with less than what they bargained for.

Along with the TT-RS’ first appearance on American soil at the Chicago Auto Show, came Audi’s announcement that we will only be getting a limited run of 1,000 units of the vehicle.

General Motors has unveiled the Envision at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show. While the concept itself won’t be put into production, the company says it "represents a convergence of future ideas and technology for Buick in the market."

2012 Cadillac CTS

The 2012 CTS is not slowing down either, as the sedan has received more changes to make its German rivals shake in their skivvies. The list isn’t of options isn’t long, but the more powerful V6 engine is enough of an addition for a hat tip their way.

2012 Cadillac CTS

The new, upgraded V-6 engine will take you for a ride with an extra 14 HP, but will keep your wallet satisfied by maintaining the fuel economy of the previous engine. That’s right, you still get 18 city/27 highway mpg.

This model came out guns blaring with a fresh design and a new engine line-up. That, plus the fact that it came with a cheaper price tag, was enough for customers to swing away from the German brands and hitch a ride on the Cadillac train.

BMW and Audi took a big hit in 2008 when Cadillac brought out their second generation CTS sedan.

2013 Aston Martin DBS

It wasn’t until 2007 that the DBS showed its face again, and the second time around seemed to be the turning point for the grand tourer, benefiting from five successful years on the market. Now, Aston Martin is working on the new generation DB9 which will eventually give way to a refreshed DBS.

The new DBS, set to be launched in late 2012, will receive a revised front grille and bumpers, fresh body side styling, and a revised cockpit.

The added power will be put to better use now that the VH platform is dropping about 10-15% of its weight, bringing it down to about 3,300 pounds.

The Aston Martin DBS first appeared in 1967 and remained in production until it was phased out by the Aston Martin V8 in 1972.

2013 Aston Martin DBS

As for the power behind this beast, a 6.0-liter V12 engine will still find its way under the hood of the sports car, but will get tweaked to deliver about 530 HP (up 20 HP from the current model).

Expect to see an exterior inspired by the One-77 supercar, with its borrowed bonnet, sides, and cooling vents. These elements will help transform the elegant DBS into a more aggressive sports car.
